“Objectifying Women,” Blah, Blah, Blah

"Objectifying Women," Blah, Blah, Blah
Men like a nice ass on a woman. Hell, I like a nice ass on a woman, and I don't even go for girls.

Wednesday afternoon, at my local hippie haus of coffee, I sat next to a professor who teaches business classes at a university in the Northeast, and he told me feminists had their titties in a wringer (sorry, would that be tyttees?) over some Reebok commercials that came out this past Fall.

Sure, they show body parts in these commercials. Women's semi-clad body parts! They even linger on them!

Uh...and this is a problem why?

For me, the only problem is that the talking boobs spot isn't funny. Other than that, I rather enjoy staring at a nice ripe pair for 30 seconds. Don't you?

Here's another:

Just wondering, but do feminists complain about commercials that show off some guy's toned abs (not that this is a very effective way to appeal to women, who, from research I've read, prefer to see beautiful women they can identify with)?

I told the professor (and I can't remember in which book I read this), that men tend to fantasize about themselves as the actors (acting upon someone) in a sexual fantasy, and women tend to fantasize about being acted upon. In other words...mirroring their sex organs. Women have an innie -- men have the thing that goes in the innie. Men objectify women; women objectify...themselves!

I know gay guys who like breasts. I also know women who get off on men's bodies and some who don't. The problem is that it's not just natural to notice women's bodies, our culture makes it a religion with advertising. And for some reason – take the Zits cartoon for instance, he is 16, dad what?, age 40, but they have him looking like a fat 60 year old. Such images of men are often done for humor in cartoons, in movies, commercials to the point where young males don't see it as important to take care of their bodies. BUT, there is some reason why in call cultures males with a T shape, broad shoulders, narrow hips, tend to have sex younger and with more partners in their lives than pear shaped men. Women might say "Humor" is what they look for but "tall" "trim" and "lots of cash" seems an aphrodisiac for many women.

I know, men are visual, women are auditory, but I have met too many who don't follow that script to assume it' will be true for the next female or male I run into.

When I was younger I was in excellent shape. I'm still thin but I was just ripped back then.

I had both guys and girls interested in looking at my muscles.

I never took this as a bad thing I took it as a complement.

I can' t imagine why women would be offended that people look at them that way.

They are only offended if it's the "wrong" man doing the looking…

Why do you wonder about how feminists think in a male-focused website besides trying to pander to men?

Feminists don’t like the “male gaze” being predominant in our Patriarchal culture because in its extreme, it’s a steep, slippery slope down to slavery, rape, burkas, and murder. That may sound outrageous but it’s true. Once you *truly* understand that you, as a woman, won’t be asking such stupid questions on a male-focused website.

By the way, I love to look at beautiful, naked women too. But I also like to look at beautiful, naked men just as much, if not more. There isn’t any reason why the media needs to so overwhelmingly focus on female nudity.
